The club does not control which uses are permitted on any section of trail - that is a decision of each landowner. I don't really know why, but I suspect that in the case of Clough they probably want to keep ATVs separate for safety reasons since some of the snowmobile trails are open to on-highway vehicles in the summer. There are also a lot more pedestrians and horses out on the trails in the summer than there are in the winter, so they may be trying to accommodate those users by separating motorized recreation in the summer. ATV riders have gotten a bad rap over the years, which has resulted in landowners being less willing to work with them. If you see someone out there doing something you know they're not supposed to, I think it would benefit the sport to go tell them to knock it off. I'd also recommmend joining the ATV club if you haven't already and working with the landowners as a representative of the ATV club to establish a better trail system.

Just my $.02
